The first weekend of April saw 21 Year 12 students from 9 Marist schools gathered at Marist Hermitage, Mittagong for our annual Marist NSW Year 12 Forum. The theme of the weekend was on ‘Vocation’ and we had Fr Paul Ghanem ofm; Sr Vivienne Goldstein sm and Jake and Sharon Degeling joining us to share the various callings in life. The young people on such weekends form strong rapport quickly as they discover their common Marist background and values. The following comments reflects the value of such weekends for our young Marists.
Following the mass, the school community continued to celebrate by recognising the 2010 High Achievers. Students who achieved a Band 6 in both the School Certificate and the Higher School Certificate were presented to the assembly and warmly congratulated by Ms Karen Young, Principal. Both staff and students have worked very hard in the last 3 years to lift the academic profile of the school and the 2010 cohort scored the highest improvement of all of the schools in the Diocese of Wollongong.
