NSW YEAR 12 MARIST FORUM MITTAGONG

The first weekend of April saw 21 Year 12 students from 9 Marist schools gathered at Marist Hermitage, Mittagong for our annual Marist NSW Year 12 Forum. The theme of the weekend was on ‘Vocation’ and we had Fr Paul Ghanem OFM; Sr Vivienne Goldstein SM and Jake and Sharon Degeling joining us to share the various callings in life. The young people on such weekends form strong rapport quickly as they discover their common Marist background and values.  The following comments reflects the value of such weekends for our young Marists. “I enjoyed working in my small group and getting to know others deeply. The high point of the weekend was Mass on Saturday night which we helped to set up. I felt a strong sense of connection.”

“The Forum was a wonderful weekend away from all the worries and stress of Year 12. I feel strengthened as an individual and I have gained new friends and new understandings.”

“I am so thankful for the opportunity to participate in the Year 12 Forum. I feel privileged to have met and bonded with such a wonderful group of people all along various points of life’s path. I thought this weekend was fantastic.”

“This weekend was both a relaxing and challenging way for me to get in touch with myself and to help me think about my identity and future.”

There will be 4 other such forums later this year for senior students (Years 11 & 12) at Mittagong, Toowoomba and Yeppoon coordinated by the Vocation and Marist Life Team of Julie Sligar, Christian Nobleza and Brother Tony Leon.
