The Marist Alumni Project identifies and celebrates the contribution Marist educated men and women have made to our nation. This project aligns itself with Marcellin Champagnat’s call to all of us, particularly in the education of the young, to ‘form good Christians and virtuous citizens.’
The main outcome of this project is the creation of an Anthology of Outstanding Australian Marist Alumni. The Anthology is a way of recognising those alumni who have made a significant and outstanding contribution to Australian life. All our schools and organisations unquestionably have many, many ex-students who have gone on to became highly productive, influential and honourable citizens of this country. The intent of the Marist Alumni Project is to capture some of those who have truly made their mark on Australian society.
Marist schools are invited to provide further nominations to the Marist Alumni: submit nominees via the online form.

Australian rugby league coach, player, and commentator.
Widely considered one of the greatest coaches in the sport's history.
Played and coached in Sydney's top-grade competition, the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership, and coached Eastern Suburbs to premierships in 1974 and 1975 and later the Parramatta Eels to three successive premierships from 1981 to 1983.

Chosen to play for the NSW Waratahs and the Wallabies in a number of test matches in the UK, totallaling nine tests between 1927-1930.

After success at the senior level at the Sydney Rowing club, was selected to compete at the Australian Rowing Championships.
Won a Silver Medal at the 1968 Olympics as part of the Mens Eights rowing team.
Returned to Joey’s to coach rowing from 1993-1997.

Played for the Newtown Bluebags in the NSW Rugby League from 1942-1951, winning a Premiership in 1943.
Represented Australia in four test matches from 1946-1948.
Served as an officer of the NSW Police from 1938-1976, earning the Queen’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 1976.

Talented soccer player who competed in Australia, Belgium, France, Italy and England.
A major player for the Australian National team, selected to the Socceroos a total of 37 times and scored 11 goals.
Named Oceania Footballer of the Year in 1988.
Inducted into the FF Hall of Champions in 2001.
Appointed as coach of the Socceroos, 1999-2005.
Appointed to the inaugural National Indigenous Advisory Group of Football Australia in 2021.
Awarded Medal of the Order of Australia in 2000 for service to soccer as a player and coach.
