Widely considered one of the greatest coaches in the sport's history.

Played and coached in Sydney's top-grade competition, the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership, and coached Eastern Suburbs to premierships in 1974 and 1975 and later the Parramatta Eels to three successive premierships from 1981 to 1983.
