After graduation, played Rugby Union for Sydney University, gaining a selection to the Wallabies in 1973 against Tonga.

Played a total of 15 tests for Australia, including tours to Britain and France.

Andrew Cairns

Represented Australia Schools against New Zealand in 1986.

Represented Australian U21s, defeating New Zealand 24-19 in 1988.

Started at Halfback for Australia in an uncapped tour match against North Auckland in 1990.

Matthew Burke

St Joseph’s College Hunters Hill 1990.

Former Rugby Union player and sports presenter for Network Ten.

Played for the Australian Under 21s team in 1992 and 1993, played at the Hong Kong Sevens in 1992 and Rugby World Cup Sevens in 1993.

Made full test debut in 1993 for the Wallabies at fullback against the Springboks.

Contributed to team wins as a goalkicker and try scorer at the 1992 Rugby World Cup and multiple Bledisloe Cups.

Upon retirement, held 22 Australian Rugby records.

Named Wallaby of the Year in 1996 and to the World XV team in 2006.

Daniel Burke

Won a Silver Medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the Men’s Eights (Rowing).

Winner of the prestigious Royal Henley Regatta “Grand Challenge” in 1997 and 2000.

Aaron Bourke

Marist College Ashgrove 1987-1994.

As a student, set many school records and represented Qld in Swimming.

Represented Australia at the 1994 Commonwealth Games, placing 12th in the 200m Freestyle.

The Buckley Family

Trinity Catholic College Lismore

Ray (attended 1957-58) and sons Mark (1981-1987) and Mat (1982-1988) all played baseball for Brother’s Club Lismore.

Ray played for the Australian National Team in 1967 and 1968.

Mark was a member of the 1994 National Team.

Mat played professionally for the Californian Angels and played for the National Olympic team.

Derek Bruce

St Augustine’s College Cairns

Commenced competitive shooting in 1991.

Competed at the 1997 World Championships, ranking 6th in the Trap Men Junior and 7th in the Double Trap Menn Junior.

Competed at the 1997 Oceanian Championships, winning silver in the Trap Men Junior and placing 5th in the Double Trap Men Junior.

Rina Bradshaw

Trinity College Beenleigh 1985-86.

Had a successful career as a state and national cross-country runner, then as a Triathlon competitor.

Won the 1992 Brisbane Marathon, recording a time of 2:51:21.

Represented Australia at six Triathlon World Championships.

Won the 1998 Long Distance World Championship, 1994 Indoor Triathlon World Championship, the 1998 and 1999 Aquathlon World Championships and the 1992 Hervey Bay Triathlon.

Competed in 14 Triathlon World Cups, winning 5.

Raelene Boulton

Trinity College Beenleigh 1985-1990.

Represented Queensland in Netball before establishing a spot on the Australian Handball Squad, competing in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and numerous world championships.

Played professionally in Denmark, Sweden and France.

Warren Birmingham

Marist Brothers Casino 1974-1977

Hockey Representative, playing for Australia in the Under-21 and for the senior team 1986-93

Named to the World XI team 1986-93, and best player in the world in 1989.

Participated in three world cups, winning Bronze, Silver and Gold. Additionally competed at the Seoul and Barcelona Olympic Games (winning silver at the latter), and captained Australia’s Hockey XI from 1990-94, playing 200 international contests before retiring.

Brad Bevan OAM

St Augustine’s College Cairns.

Five-time winner of the St George Triathlon Series held throughout Australia.

Four-time ITU World Cup Champion, International Grand Prix Champion, five-time Australia Triathlon Champion and three-time silver medalist at the ITU World Championships.

Won a Silver Medal at the 1990 Commonwealth Games.

Awarded Medal of the Order of Australia in 2001.

Inducted into the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame in 2009, Triathlon Australia Hall of Fame in 2012 and ITU Hall of Fame in 2016.

Peter Berney

Marist College Ashgrove 1971-1980

Excelled at school in middle-distance running events and cross country, leading to his selection to represent Australia in cross country running.

John Berne

Champagnat College Pagewood 1966.

Played Rugby Union for Randwick as an inside back and was selected for the Wallabies tour of the British isles in 1975/76.

Switched to Rugby League and played for South Sydney and Cronulla.

John Bennett

Competed at the 1966 Commonwealth Games in swimming, winning a Silver Medal.

Broke the then-world record in the 800 metres, recording a time of 8 minutes 47.3 seconds.
