We are seeking an innovative and experienced secondary science teacher to travel to Bougainville in order to assist the science department of St Joseph’s College.  The school would like to have the support of a teacher who is passionate about their science and who could model for others how to teach science in a high school department with limited resources.

St Joseph’s is located in central Bougainville, 50km north of the town of Arawa. The school is an initiative of the Marist Brothers and their lay collaborators. The College commenced in 1999 is response to the growing demand for appropriate education for young people who had had their lives disrupted by the ten year Bougainville civil war (sometimes referred to as the ‘crisis’). When it started, the aim of the college was to work with young men, particularly ex-combatants, who wished to regain an education. Today, the college consists of an Elementary School, a Primary School, a High School and an Occupational Skills Training Centre.  The college is coeducational at both the elementary and primary levels.
