MAPS

Marist Asia-Pacific Solidarity is the solidarity and justice ministry of Australian Marists – Brothers, teachers, students, benefactors and friends.
MAPS provides financial and material support as well as education and volunteers services for the Marist Brothers' ministries in Pakistan, India, Cambodian, East Timor, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Bougainville, Solomon Islands, and other places in the Pacific.
To achieve its goals, MAPS fosters a strong relationship with staff, parents and students of Marist Schools in Australia and supports them with educational and experiential programmes.
Solidarity is a unity of feeling and action among Marists, united by our common heritage and charism. This is the value at the core of our mutual inter-dependence and its expression includes:
- A belief that only Justice will bring Peace
- A focus on knowing the life of each other
- An understanding that each of our brothers and sisters should have the means to determine their own future
- A desire to share our resources

MARIST SOLIDARITY IMMERSION WORKSHOP: 4 - 6 AUGUST 2013
This live-in workshop is for school immersion leaders and staff team members. It will facilitate processes for sharing of immersion experience on preparation, deepening the participant experience in-country, debriefing, organisation and risk management. It will also introduce new school leaders to immersions. The workshop provides an opportunity for a critical examination of models of immersions and feedback and expectations from receiving communities. There will also be input on Marist Volunteers Australia and Gap Year opportunities. These workshops will be conducted by Marist Solidarity in collaboration with team members from Marist Schools Australia and the Mission & Life Formation Team.
As available places in both programs are limited, participants who express their interest first will be given priority. Registrations forms can be downloaded here. For further information about these programs please contact Helen Quirk E: helen.quirk@marists.org.au T: 07 3512 9800
